Carbon Raiser, also known as carbon additive or recarburizer is a material added to the iron and steel molten metal to increase its carbon content. It is a key component in the steelmaking and casting processes and improves the hardness, strength and wear resistance of iron and steel. Carbon Raiser is made from natural raw materials and produced through various production methods. Based on the raw materials and production processes, the carbon raiser can be divided into calcined coal carbon raisers, graphite carbon raisers, and petroleum coke carbon raisers.

The main ingredient of the carbon additive is anthracite with characteristic of low sulfur and ash, which has been high-temperature calcined under DC electric calciner. It has good properties of density, electric conductivity and mechanical strength. It is widely used in the process of steel-smelting and casting, especially in converter smelting and hot-rolled products. The fixed carbon of the carbon additive can be up to 95%.
